ThorLabs Technology Teams Round Table Luncheon

Robotics teams from the Sussex County area in the Northwest corner of New Jersey sent their team captains and build leaders to the Technology Round Table Invitational held at ThorLabs in Newton. After a quick bite to eat each team discussed its organization, season’s challenge, construction, and budgets. Whether building small VEX robots, 120 pound monsters, or submarines the teams all discovered that they had a similarity, ever changing group dynamics. The question, how to get all team members working together in a productive efficient way to maximize the short build windows inherent in their competition’s format.

This is a question that is not only found at the high school team level but one that exists in all areas of the business world. The solutions vary from business to business, group to group, and situation to situation but knowing that other teams and organizations face the same hurdles and that difficulties are common takes some of the pressure off not having it all figured out.

At the closing of the discussion ThorLabs employees and team members mingled answering each other’s questions and exchanged tips.
